During regular class time, we will be doing a full dress rehearsal of all of the competition numbers as well as a parent meeting to discuss details of costume/makeup /hair.  We handed out laminated costume detailed cards so that you are prepared for hairstyles and don’t forget any part of your costume, so please refer to those first and if you have further questions we will be answering them at the mock competition. It is also a great time for you to come and watch your child, & video them so they can watch themselves at home, and improve for the first competition coming up.

The day of the mock competition we will do the dances in this order:

DSDS PARENTS & STUDENTS

We are so excited for our Christmas show this weekend. Here are a few last minute details. This should answer all your questions so please take the time to read this thoroughly.

DSDS presents “The Magic of Christmas” this Saturday December 17th at 7:00pm at Pocatello High School auditorium. Tickets are on sale all this week in the office or you can also buy them at the door. Seating is general admission and we will open the doors at 6:30pm the night of the show. Tickets are$6.00 or $5.00 w/ a can of food.

You will be taking home your RENTAL COSTUMES this week. There is a note attached with instructions. Please read through the note and make sure you understand how the costume is worn, what you will need, makeup, hair, ect.  We have been preparing for this show for a few months, so please take a few minutes to look through the costume, try it on, check if you will need safety pins, bobby pins, hair nets, & ensure your child is fully prepared.

ALL STUDENTS RUN THROUGH:  Friday December 16th from 5:00-7:00, please drop your child off and leave them with us. This is a closed rehearsal. They will just need to be in regular dance clothes (no costumes) and have the appropriate shoes.  It is crucial that your child is there to see how everything runs, be around all the other kids, and most importantly practice their dances for the next day.  This is a mandatory rehearsal, so please do your best to have them there.  Dress rehearsals and performances are great learning experiences and very beneficial for dancers.  We wouldn’t schedule a rehearsal if we didn’t think it was important for them to be there. Company students will need to stay until 8:00pm (excluding IBC, they will be done at 7:00).

ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY DRESS REHEARSAL:   Saturday December 17th, 10:00am-1:00pm. We will run through the entire show just like we will that night, in order.  Please have full hair, makeup and costume done for the dress rehearsal! You can video and take as many pictures as you would like. You can leave when your child is done performing their dance.

THE NIGHT OF THE SHOW: please have all performers arrive at 6:15pm. Drop your child off backstage and find your spot in the auditorium.  We will have a couple stage moms there to watch over them during the show. If your child is young, you can come get them after they perform and have them watch the show in the audience with you. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, do not have your child in the audience in costume, this is very unprofessional and we like to keep our shows professional. So if you decide to have them sit with you they must change out of their costume first.  Rental costumes must be turned in immediately after they perform. You will be charged if it is not turned in, thank you for your cooperation on this matter.  Surely you can understand how difficult it is to organize hundreds of costumes!

If you ordered CLOTHING, it is now available in the office for you to pick up, we are only handing them out to adults.

Friday TUMBLING and solo classes are going to be held this week. However, we are doing a combined tumbling class from 4-5 for all tumbling students because of the extra practice that day that goes from 5-7.

We are more than thrilled with our students and their dedication and hard work they have shown in preparation for this show. Thank you parents for supporting us and we can’t wait to show you what we have been working so hard on!  Please be on time to all rehearsals and the night of the show. Also, Please take the time to ensure you and your child are organized and prepared to look extra special for their show! They sure do deserve it!

1 2 Love you!

Dear Students and Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are now 3 months into our dance season. We would like to welcome all our new and returning students. Hopefully you are settled in and comfortable with your lessons. We are very glad to have you as a student at our school.

We want to take this time to thank you for being a part of Dana Smith Dance Studio. We also would like to ensure that you are happy with the instruction this fall and well informed on how everything works. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me directly and let me know. Whether you are new to the school this year, or a returning student, we are very glad to have you as part of DSDS and we value your input.

We also would like to make you aware that we have a website that posts all our events and schedules and gives information on many of our programs. The address is www.dsdsdance.com. This may be of help to you with things like recital dates, school holidays, etc. Also we would like you to be aware that as of this fall, all memos that we send home with the students are posted on the website for your reference. We also send home regular emails about every two weeks. Be sure you are checking your email regularly. If you are not receiving any emails, please see the office to make sure we have the correct email on file.

We strive to make sure that our students are getting the most they can out of their lessons. Your feedback is important to us. It helps us keep doing what we are doing right and improve where we need to. We especially want to emphasize this to our returning students. If you need any assistance, or have any questions, please do call us. Thank you again.

We have also enclosed a note with important dates and information to help prepare you for our                            upcoming events. Be sure to review and mark the information on your calendar.
